Ridgefield Lions Club

Announcements :

The Ridgefield Lions Club is a non-profit organization that supports the local community. Our Mission Statement is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. The Lions motto is "We Serve"

Our club was formed April 19, 1929.  We just celebrated our 80th Anniversary this year. 

We collect used glasses throughout the year. There's a big YELLOW mailbox in front of Stop N Shop as well as smaller white and blue Lions Club boxes in Town Hall, Post Office, Liberta's Spirit Shoppe, Opticare, Dr. Amatuzzi's office, Dr. Berman's office (Family Eye Care), Dr. Doty's office, Ridgefield Bank (Danbury Road) and Dr. Reynold's office. Georgetown Lions have a yellow mail box in Ancona's parking lot also. The glasses are sent to a school for the deaf in New Jersey where they are cleaned, read and packaged to be distributed to people in third world countries by Lions and opticians. Our club collected 4,100 pairs of glasses during the past 18 month period.This is an ongoing project for our club.

 Checks for our 2009 Grants have been mailed to the following: Meals on Wheels, RVNA, Founders Hall, Ridgefield Theatre Barn, The Discovery Center, The Ridgefield Chorale and Ridgefield ABC.  The Garden and Conservation Trust will receive our "sweat equity".  Lion Mike is co-ordinating with them on the projects needed done.  This shows how much we can give back to the community if we work hard on our fundraisers!!!!  Yeah Lions.

 OUR 17TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT WAS ONCE AGAIN A HUGE SUCCESS.  MANY THANKS TO LION GARY AND LION JOYCE ALONG WITH THEIR COMMITTEE FOR ALL THEIR WORK IN MAKING THIS EVENT OUR LARGEST INCOME PRODUCING FUND RAISER FOR THE YEAR.  THANKS ALSO TO ALL OUR SPONSORS AND GOLFERS. 

 NEW OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS WERE INSTALLED AT OUR 6/10 MEETING BY LION EMELIE HOWARD. THE NEW SLATE WILL COMMENCE IN JULY.  MANY THANKS GOES TO OUR IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT PAUL TEPFER FOR ALL HIS TIME AND HARD WORK THIS PAST YEAR LEADING US IN MANY WORTHWHILE ENDEAVORS.
